We are thrilled that Julie Johnson from TRES SABORES in Napa has agreed to come up and celebrate with us on May 16th (the date we first opened our doors). Many cork customers are big fans of her ¿Porque No? blend, Zinfandel and Rutherford Cabernet. She'll also bring with her the just-released 2011 Sauvignon Blanc from Farina Vineyard. We'll have some special nibbles for this festive celebration of six years serving NE Alberta and the greater Portland community, so please come celebrate with us.

DOMAINE DUCLAUX Côte Rôtie Vertical!

We promised more opportunities this year to try verticals of single wines. Well, Elaine Testa of Casa Bruno has found us an amazing opportunity and she's going to share it with you at this special tasting. Domaine Duclaux is perched on the incredibly steep, terraced slopes of Cote-Rotie in the Northern-most section of the Rhone Valley. It is here where the Syrah grape reaches its penultimate glory and tasting 4 vintages of this wine should prove an extraordinary experience. Elaine will be pouring the Duclaux La Germine bottlings from 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. Make sure you get to this tasting early, as we will start at 4pm and pour until the bottles run dry or 7pm, whichever comes first. These wines sell for $65-70/bottle so this is truly a special opportunity to try great wines for a nominal $15 tasting fee*.

 

BELOW GRADE BEER TASTING

With all 4 of the current brews from Bend's Below Grade Brewery now in stock, we will pour them for those who want to taste this new brewery's offerings. Come check them out. It's free and you can go home with an assortment of beer to restock your fridge!

MAROTTI CAMPI

We have another Italian visiting us this month. On Wednesday, May 23rd, Lorenzo Marotti Campi from the Marche region will be at the shop to share his wines. Lorenzo makes some delicious Verdicchio to be sure, but it's his fragrant reds and sparkling wine made from Lacrima di Morro d'Alba that gets us really excited. He'll be pouring a stainless steel Verdicchio, his Lacrima Orgiolo and his sparkling Lacrima called Xyris, plus a few other current releases. This will be a free drop-in tasting from 5pm until closing. Come practice your Italian and try some unforgettable wines.

SCARBOROUGH WINES
May 25 • Friday Night Flight • 4pm - 7pm • $12 tasting fee*

For the last tasting of the month, Travis Scarborough makes a return to pour his current releases. Some wines are under the former winery name, O'Shea Scarborough, and others just say Scarborough as Travis is now solely in charge of production. We know there are a lot of fans out there and this will be a great chance to taste new wines like The Royale & The Works, along with new vintages of The Rebel, Midnight MSG & Desolation Chardonnay. Bonus pours will include Black Cask Syrah and Main Event Cabernet.
