Aviary LogoWe are excited to partner with Aviary for a special five-course Winemaker's Dinner featuring Jesse Skiles of Fausse Piste. We've quickly become big fans of Jesse's wines and are excited he's decided to dedicate himself full-time to winemaking after years spent as the house chef at Owen Roe. Jesse and the Dynamic Trio in the Aviary kitchen have come up with a multi-course meal that will showcase his current releases. The tasty menu is as follows:

Chilled Zucchini Soup (almond milk, serrano ham, grapes, croutons)
Spice-cured Salmon (fennel, mandarin orange, american caviar)
Rainbow Trout (pea shoots, mojama, pickled sprouts, lemon balm
Crispy Pig Ear (coconut rice, chinese sausage, avocado)
Frozen Yogurt (strawberries, rhubarb, basil, butter cookie

The wines will include Viognier, Colluvium Blanc, a couple of Syrahs and perhaps another treat. Randle JohnsonWe have a special opportunity for Argentine wine fans to meet and mingle with The Hess Group's head winemaker, Randle Johnson, who manages their Colomé estate in Salta, Argentina and also heads up the Artezin project in California. This will be Randle's only trip to Oregon this year, and we are partnering with the Kennedy School who will put together a special five-course meal paired with the wines of Colomé and Artezin. The menu includes a range of flavors from Smoked Trout Mousse to Summer Vegetable Terrine to corriander rubbed Rack of Lamb. The wines wilColomel range from Torrontes and Estate Malbec from Colomé to Zinfandel and Petite Sirah from Artezin.

Dinner is $60 per person inclusive of food, wine & gratuity. Plus you'll receive special retail prices on wines featured and purchased through cork if you attend the dinner. For those who don't live in the neighborhood, The Kennedy School also is offering overnight packages, so it could be a great Escape to the City plan for some wine and dining fun. JULY 14THWith Independence Day spirit ignited this month, we've put together our own spirited celebration in honor of the storming of the Bastille that liberated France on July 14, 1789. Luckily, Bastille Day falls on a Saturday this year, so we decided to partner with local French bistro Cocotte plus new Portland resident and Beaujolais export ambassador Aurelien Fiardet of Terroirs Originels. We've concocted a progressive tasting and dinner, beginning at cork at 7pm with a flight of 3 wines from LUCIEN LARDY. Then at 8pm we will walk down the street en masse and take a seat at Cocotte for a special 4-course meal with a seafood focus, paired with Cru Beaujolais from 4 different villages in Burgundy's zone famous for the hearty Gamay Noir grape. Through it all, Aurelien will guide you on a tour of the independent producers whose wonderful wines he helps spread throughout the United States. The meal will conclude with a sparkling toast to French Independence with a special dessert pairing.

Tasting at cork is $10/person. Dinner at Cocotte is $60/person for food and wine (gratuity not included). There are 28 seats for the dinner at Cocotte, and if you reserve for the dinner, then we will waive the tasting fee at cork. Even if you can't make the dinner, you can still come to the Bastille Day tasting if you let us know in advance you'd like to attend.
